10 Fun Facts About Sex

22 Jun

(borrowed from photobucket)

Whether it’s creating life or just spicing up our lives, sex is vital. And not just to us erotic romance writers. It’s something everyone knows, even if some people don’t want to admit it, LOL. 😉

As you might expect, as a writer (and a woman looking to get her freak on!), I’ve been known to scour the internet for inspiration–and I don’t mean looking at porn. All the time anyway. I do random Bing searches on certain aspects of sex here or there. From unique sexual positions to what it feels like to lick a man’s six pack, there isn’t anything I won’t research.

My job is so difficult sometimes.

And I had to do a lot of research for my BDSM novel His Forbidden Submissive, releasing June 27th from Ellora’s Cave. (Oh look, shameless self promotion, LOL. It’s the last for this blog. Scout’s honor. *crosses fingers behind back*) I’ve enjoyed BDSM stories by other authors and I’ve always been curious about the lifestyle, but I really didn’t know much about how the lifestyle really works.

Enter my research.

So at this point, I’m betting you think you know what this post is going to be about. My BDSM-specific research. And if you guessed that, you’re wrong, LOL. I’ll be discussing the BDSM aspect of my research on Monday (June 25th) when I’m guest blogging over at Delilah Devlin’s. Today, however, I’m blogging about a random blog post I happened across during my research… Continue reading

I Have a Crush…More Like an Infatuation

25 May

Infatuation is the perfect word to describe the tingles that have me all a quiver these days, but I’m not crushing on some guy I know. It’s not an illicit connection to a sexy neighbor or to the hot guy I see in the morning riding his bike. Nope, not at all.

Like a teenage girl crushin’ on the latest heartthrob, I’m all a twitter for a celeb. Maroon 5’s front man, Adam Levine, to be exact.

I know, I know. I’m over 33. Crushes on celebs are for the young, but can you really blame me for this little infatuation? I mean, look at this man… Continue reading

A Hot-n-Yummy New Cover

27 Apr

What do you get when you cross a Dom with a tattooed, bad-boy biker? The hero from my recently contract Ellora’s Cave story His Forbidden Submissive.

*wipes drool from chin*

Nice, right? No, nice is to tame of a world. This is raw sexiness. I love it! The EC cover artist who designed my sexy cover couldn’t have captured my hero better. I had a literal squeal moment when I first saw it.

Damn, is there anything sexier than a muscled man whose sculpted chest is more canvas then covering? Like the heroine in His Forbidden Submissive, whenever I see one I want to trace every line of ever tat with my tongue.

Don’t judge me, LOL! *wink*

Anyhoo, lovelies, I gotta jet. The hubs and I are taking the kidlets digging for diamonds tomorrow. Later!

Talkin’ Sh*t!

30 Mar

I was running late on today’s post (surprise, surprise), and for the life of me, couldn’t think of anything to write about. So for inspiration, I did one of those random word generators online and got this wonderful topic suggestion.

As you might think, the first thing I did was to laugh out loud. No way I could talk about poop on an erotic romance authors’ blog. I’d be (virtually) strung up and tossed out on my poop-maker. But then, inspiration struck.

As a writer, I’m always on the lookout for what readers like in their erotic romance stories, and of course, what they don’t like. And the latter is where the inspiration came in.

What makes you, dear reader, roll your eyes in disgust and scream, “This book is pure poop/crap/shit/etc.?” I’d love to hear your answers.

Anyhoo, lovelies, I gotta jet. Dinner’s ready. 😉 Later!

Help! Emotional Support Needed!

16 Mar

It’s time. I can’t keep putting this off any longer. I want to, boy do I want to, but I just can’t. The kids are hounding me every day, fifty times a day. Over and over and over and–well, you get he point.

I guess it’s time I faced reality. No more whining. No more excuses. I’m just gonna have to suck it up and do the one wretched task I absolutely LOATHE. Continue reading

So I’m Procrastinating Again…

4 Mar

I need to be hard at work, finishing the last chapter on some pre-edits for my editor, but I’m having trouble getting my Muse to cooperate. She–sort of like Fate–can be a fickle b*tch. (Sorry Muse, you know I love you, chica, but you and I have to get a better system going.)

So now, I’m trying to get inspired, and I thought, what better way than gorging myself on eye candy. And good for y’all, I like sharing. 🙂

First up, is a pic of a hottie who looks like he stepped right from the scorching pages my recently contracted story His Forbidden Submissive. Continue reading

Today I want to talk about telephones and that oh-so-important first call from “him.”

When I was growing up, cell phones didn’t exist, which may be impossible for some of you to imagine. Girls were known to sit home waiting by the phone for “him” to call. (I confess to waiting for some boy to call me!) And trust me, girls would circle like a hawk around the house phone. No one was allowed to make a call in case “he” tried to call. Heaven forbid if “he” got a busy signal. What if “he” never called back? And if some family member had the audacity to receive a call (and thus tie up the single phone line), the powerful evil eye delivered by the household teenage girl could end that call quickly. My house didn’t even have call waiting, so no way could this oh-so-important boy ring in.

And privacy for that call when it finally came? Forget it. No private telephone in my room. No personal telephone number just for me. If I wanted to whisper sweet nothings in “his” ear, I had to carry the entire phone with its 30 ft cord down the hall and get in the closet. My parents at least put a 30ft cord on the receiver of the kitchen wall phone, but I could only make it to the stairs leading to the basement. Not a lot of privacy there. And forget getting a phone call at my grandparents’ house. They were on a “party-line” phone, which meant they shared the line with other houses. Anyone could (and did) listen in on calls.

Fast forward to today. Some of you have had cell phones for as long as you can remember. You never had to deal with the long phone cords that were necessary for privacy. You have no idea what a “party-line” is (which is a shame as those were quite interesting.)The idea of staying home “in case of a phone call” sounds like a joke. Today, you toss your smart phone into your pocket or purse and go. Heck, “he” doesn’t even have to call. “He” can email, text, Facebook or Tweet you and your phone will get the message.

Texas Two Step, my debut book, begins almost ten years after my hero (Mitch Landry) and my heroine (Olivia Montgomery) meet. To build up to the release, I’ve written a few vignettes from their early dating years. Today’s snippet from Texas Two Step-The Prequel is The First Phone Call. Click HERE to read it. If you are just joining into Texas Two Step-The Prequel, links to the first three short stories can be found with today’s installment of The Prequel.

Now, let’s talk about that first call you got from “the one.” Were you on a cell phone? At home? At the mall? Were you nervous? Excited? Giggly? Did your stomach flip? Your mind go blank? Tell me about “that” call.
