Aww You Guys, Group Hug!

2 Jun

I’ll try to keep this post short and sweet.  I write romance. I read romance, but I’m not comfortable being all mushy.

Writing is such a solitary venture that when you make meaningful connections with other writers you  hold on to them like the life raft they are.  Through publishing ups and downs, through real life tragedies and the best part — through every triumph along the way, your writer friends stand by and support you in a way that often other people in your life can’t.

Though I live in a major city, with two RWA Chapters within driving distance, most of my writing relationship are online. It might seem crazy to non-writerly types that some of my best friends are people I’ve never met in person, spoken to on the phone, and in some cases, have never even seen a photo  of them. Doesn’t make those connections less solid, or those friendships less real.

I’ve leaned on my friends a lot in May and had the opportunity to prop up several of them as well (May was a real @#$@# this year to a lot of people). I’m ever hopeful that June will be much better. Hugs are on tap either way.
