SexyScopes for 2012

8 Jan

How could it possibly be 2012 already? I thought I had more time to prepare for the end of the world but suddenly here it is–the year when the doom and gloom prophets have insisted the world will end because the Mayan calendar stopped here. My response has always been and continues to be “Poppycock!” (Isn’t that a great word?) In my non-fiction book, “Metaphysical Fitness, Ten Commandments for Siritual Being”, I forecasted that the only thing everyone should expect in 2012 is the end of the world as we know it.

Or, as Bob Dylan warned in an earlier song, the times they are a-changing. 2012 should be memorable for a number of reasons, but NOT because the Earth is going to blow up or because we are all about to vanish into thin air.

But before getting into the big picture, here’s the top news for January – the first two weeks will be very supportive to forming resolutions and getting started on them, seeking new employment or residences. The second half of the month, however, has the energy planet, Mars, going retrograde for several months. Though this energy will not totally block your progress, it will hinder the speed and ease with which you’ll be able to act.

And now, let’s look at 2012 as a whole. When it comes to a long-range forecast that needs to be generalized for a large number of people, the metaphysical tool I find to be most accurate is numerology. 2012 is a “5” year, which signifies transition and adjustments to existing plans and goals.

Very simply, numerology is the study of numbers and their connection to the human experience. Within this study, our individual lives are divided into nine-year cycles, with each year carrying a specific energy, advantage or challenge. One important note—each numerological year runs from birthday to birthday, rather than January to December. That said, the following will help you calculate your current or upcoming year number in order to glimpse what 2012 has in store for you.

The first step in utilizing numerology is to condense the whole number in question (regardless of how many digits it initially contains) down to a single digit between “1” and “9”. This is done using simple addition.

In order to see what the coming year has in store for you, you need to know what number year you are in at this time and what energy you will be moving into on your next birthday. To figure that out, the calculation is made using your last birthday. For example, if your last birthday was November 6, 2011, the following would be the method of determining the energy or purpose of your current year:

A.  Write down the last birth date in numerical form with plus signs in between each whole number:     11 + 6 + 2011

B.  Each portion of the date must now be condensed to a single digit. The day is the 6th, which is already a single digit. To reduce the month and the year to single digits, add the individual digits together:

Month: 1 + 1 = 2
Year: 2 + 0 + 1 + 1 = 4

        C.  Now you have three single digits that need to be added together:

Month: 2
Day: 6
Year: 4
12

       D.  Since the total is a double-digit number, it still needs to be condensed to one:

12: 1 + 2 = 3

Thus, if your last birthday was November 6, 2011, you are currently in a “3” year and will be moving into a “4” energy next November.

The last step is to find out what your year number means in terms of what sort of energy or focus will influence your life for that year. Understand that these keywords can be applied to your career, finances, health, relationships and so on, but with some thought, you should easily be able to tell what area of your life is the focus of your current cycle. In most cases, in a “9” year you make a decision (conscious or not) as to which life area will be most important during the next nine-year cycle.

1 Beginning of a new cycle, fresh starts, leadership, new ideas or plans
2 Relationship issues (for better or worse), duality, double duty, options between two things or people
3 Playtime, free spiritedness, taking risks, gambling, good luck
4 Hard, possibly tedious and exhausting work, laying foundations, no time to relax, let alone play
5 Changes, transitions, halfway point in a cycle or major project, making adjustments in long-term plans
6 Domestic peace or harmony, comfortable home environment, rest and recuperation
7 Depending on previous responses to situations or behaviour leading up to this year, either upheaval and confrontations or spiritual connections and psychic expansion
8 Rewards for work done, favors returned, reaping the harvest of seeds previously sown
9 Endings, conclusions, cleaning, de-cluttering, making space (literally or figuratively) for a new cycle

This is just a brief glimpse into the world of numerology but I hope it helps you make the most of the upcoming new year. But here’s a little advice for everyone – stay flexible, change is coming to each of our lives whether we choose it or not; choose the path of light over shadows; and address that issue you’ve been ignoring or wishing it would just go away. Do that and, this time next year, you will be very glad you did!
