Round 2 Finalists are…

29 Oct

Oh wow. WOW! I wanted to start by thanking the Round 1 finalists and say how awesome it was to have an opportunity to read your first chapters. All of them. I also loved seeing the reader comments. And  I’m glad we had so many visitors and were able to provide an opportunity to allow you to get your work out into the public domain. It’s a critical aspect of being a writer and not exactly an easy one at that!

Grace had her work cut out for her in this round, but she could only select three! THREE! How she did it, I’m not exactly sure, but without further delay, the Passionate Reads Pitch Contest Round 2 finalists (in no particular order) are…

No Sweeter Love by Tina Vaughn

Unleashed by April Vine

Love the Sinner by Avril Ashton

And the winner of our reader’s choice vote, who will also be moving onto Round 3 is…

Beneath the Surface by Carrie Clark

Congrats to the finalists!  Way to go!  For those who didn’t make it into this round, don’t despair. Keep writing, keep submitting and be proud of the fact that you put yout work out there because many writers don’t even make it that far. And don’t give up!! I think that’s probably the most valuable advice I could give any writer :).

If you finaled (Yay again!!), you’ll need to send your partials (first 3 chapters and synopsis) in .doc format (and NO MORE THAN 15,000 WORDS TOTAL) to passionatereads (at) gmail . com by 11:59 pm (Eastern) Tuesday, November 1. If manuscripts are not received by then or they exceed 15000 words, you will be disqualified from the contest. Also, the manuscript must be formatted to the below specifications. Each entry should have:

  • Pen name, title, email address and genre in the header, or simply typed before the partial starts. Include the same information in the synopsis.
  • Single-spaced, 12 Book Antiqua font.
  • 2 files saved as: Pen Name_Book Title_Partial (for the first 3 chapters) and Pen Name_Book Title_Synopsis (for the synopsis).

Oh, and here’s some inspiration to get you started. Sure, you’re welcome :).

THE winner will be announced Wednesday, November 23rd! GOOD LUCK!

Thanks again to everyone!!
~Kaily and the rest of the Passionistas

*Note: there is NO reader voting during this round. Only Grace will be judging the partials.

Congratulations to the finalists! How exciting!!! And thanks to everyone who participated and voted. Definitely a great turn out total. And I’m sure picking only 3 finalists was hard, almost impossible. That means you guys turned in some amazing stuff! Keep writing, keep submitting, keep going!!!
