Christmas In July

27 Jul

In the last month, I wrote a Quickie Christmas story for Ellora’s Cave. Yup, in July. I have to admit, while I do like the Christmas spirit, I had a rough time getting into the holiday mood when it’s 92 degrees outside and I’m taking Tot to the swimming pool. So I had to force it, and I listened to a LOT of Christmas music. To the point where I was humming it unconsciously, and Hubs would throw pillows at me. (Look. I’m no American Idol nominee…)

I don’t typically listen to music as I write. I’m more of a “total silence” author. But this time, it really worked for me. So first, I’m going to share my favorite Christmas carol video ever. The 12 Days of Christmas, as interpreted by Straight No Chaser, an a cappella group. This thing is just fantastic. You’ll love it.

And in the Christmas spirit of giving, I’m curious. What’s YOUR favorite Christmas carol? I’ll pick one random commenter and they will win a $15 iTunes gift card. (Ends at 11:59pm Eastern tonight, winner posted tomorrow.)

Go ahead. Let me know your favorite carol. And watch the video. You won’t regret it.

I love that song by Straight No Chaser. I love Christmas music and I start listening to it right after Thanksgiving. But my all time favorite is Silent Night. I look forward to singing it at our Christmas eve service by candlelight.

Blue Christmas by Elvis. It isn’t Christmas till I hear it.

That group was fantastic!! I’m so saving this for Christmas time.

That’s a cute song and video. I love Wham’s Last Christmas, not a traditional Christmas song but it’s really catchy.

Silent Night is my favorite. But it’s not Christmas without I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas.

I LOVE Christmas tunes. We just had a huge Christmas in July, complete with all of the fixings, decorations and blaring Christmas music. I am a huge fan of Feliz Navidad, the hippopotamus song. White Christmas – well almost all of them, really, but my favourite would probably be Santa Baby!

What a hoot, KJ. I’ve never seen this group before and couldn’t help smiling. I have two favorite Christmas carols. The first one is Little Drummer Boy, and the second Ave Maria by Josh Groban. Actually all of Josh’s Christmas songs tend to give me goose bumps.

    Happy Christmas in July!

Carol of the Bells. Best song to sing in a choir too!

My favorite Christmas song of all time is a version of Ave Maria by Leontyne Price, a famous opera singer. It was on our TimeLife Christmas album we had when I was a kid and I get goosebumps every time she hits a high note.

I’d have to go with Silent Night. I just love it. It’s hauntingly beautiful. For the worst Christmas song of all time — Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer. I loathe it with a passion.

I actually don’t like Christmas carols 😮 I’m not a scrooge though, I swear! As far as other types of Christmas songs I like the above posted Wham! song, Christmas Wrapping (Save Ferris) and It’s Christmas Time Again (Blink 182)….they make me laugh : D

I love so many Christmas songs – all the old faves like White Christmas, the Chestnut song, Silver Bells, etc but my absolute favorite has to be Carol of the Bells. It’s just so pretty even if it is so fast I can’t sing to it 🙂

I like the fun songs. Nothing traditional for me. My favorite is Run, Run, Rudolph by Bryan Adams.
