Cook Naked: Pumpkin-Blueberry Muffins

Cheerful Pumpkin
Bond: This week we celebrate two things– Halloween and an old breakfast favorite, blueberry muffins. So just to keep life exciting we’ll give the old favorite a new twist. Trust me, when you taste these pumpkin-blueberry muffins, you won’t want to save them just for Halloween. The scent of spiced pumpkin baking is erotically arousing for both men and women, so while you might eat muffins to refuel after a night of loving, don’t be surpised if a need for round two arises. I have Brandi Evans here to help me today. She’s an expert at writing erotically arousing romance.

Brandi: Mmmm, my mouth is already watering for a moist, sweet muffin. There’s just something about blueberry muffins that holds the key to my undoing. I love them so much I worked them into my first release from Ellora’s Cave, Tempted. Lyndi and Seth enjoy a couple muffins after a morning of fun in the bed. 🙂

Bond: Half of taste is scent, Brandi. It is tied into to your emotional repsonse to the experience surrounding the muffins. Muffins are a comfort food, an easy way to say I love you and I want to take care of you. When Lyndi shared her favorite muffins with Seth it would start as a sensory experience, the texture of warm muffims breaking apart between his fingers, the perfume rising in steam, and that little twitch his tongue would get at the thought of tangy berries. All of those pleasures will transfer to Lyndi and the pleasure they shared that morning. Obviously, Lyndi knows just how to tempt her lover.

Now, to start making our tempting treat, I will sift the dry ingredients while Brandi creams the shortening and sugar.

Brandi: Creams? This sooo isn’t a cooking related term for me. *fans self* I may need a little help here. Is there any stroking involved in this process…?

Bond: Creaming happens when you bring together to disparate ingredients. Usually they have the masculine and feminine qualities. Like here you have the coarse grains of sugar that must penetrate and then meld with the soft, yielding shortening. The friction between the male and female essence strips away the barriers between the two, yeilds a beautiful creamy mixture. Mmm…so yes there is stroking and heat and entwining….er…pardon…getting carried away here.

Next, we add an egg, beat until fluffy. Then, alternate adding dry
ingrediants and pumpkin, beating thoroughly after each addition.

Brandi: Beating thoroughly. Wow, who knew cooking could sound so dirty? But I digress. *moves close to Master Bond and tries pulling mind from gutter* Already a soft, subtle scent is filling the air.

Bond: Beating is not something everyone embraces, yes? It is just another tool in the love… arsenal. It involves a rapid circular agitation–

She has this look on her face, mes amis, it makes everything I say flash erotic pictures in my brain. *Tries to focus on the mixing bowl.* We can beat the ingredients the old fashioned way with a wooden spoon, or a whip —

Now she snickers. *Beating faster. Trying to concentrate.*

Or we could use the modern high speed, electrical beater machine. I can’t think with her giggling. What do you call this again?

Stop laughing at me, Brandi! Ignore this, mes amis.

Now the purpose of beating is to create a light airy consitency that allows things to rise.

*Throws towel at Brandi.* Behave. You get me laughing too and I may have to demonstrate a different kind of beating. Such a dirty mind this one has.

Brandi: *Dries eyes* Sorry, occupational hazard.

Bond: Now we fold in the blueberries, pour into muffin tins, then put them in the oven, and inhale the goodness. Mmm…now there is temptation — pumpkin and bluerries heating up, the spices releasing their perfume and melding with the sizzling juices.

Brandi: Yum. I’d never have picked these flavors to go together, Master Bond.

Bond: Oh, I don’t know, any woman who writes such a sexy romance with angels knows how to take a favorite, add a new twist, and make it something special to tempt everyone.
